The Treneere Together Partnership

How Treneere has developed into a better and peaceful neighbourhood

The Treneere Together Partnership The Treneere Together Partnership (TTP), established in 2006, has played an outstanding role in developing Treneere into a peaceful and better neighbourhood. This body has seven voting members and a resident majority with four residents, two councillors and our Chief Executive. It has proven success in co-ordinating initiatives designed to raise the living standards and aspirations of the estate’s residents.

The TTP is funded by central government, but on the proviso that residents themselves shape the partnership’s aims. Residents attend partnership board meetings and also form the following working groups:

  • crime, environment and transport
  • health and leisure
  • worklessness and education
  • community building.

The residents work in the groups with other stakeholders from the public, community and voluntary sector.

To support the partnership we have seconded a neighbourhood manager, employed a resident involvement worker and provided office space in a property on the neighbourhood’s main street.

Residents vote on proposals for action and these are taken to the TTP Board for approval. The TTP is a good example of housing association support being given to a project that is led by others and, in particular, residents.

As well as the four working groups a newly revived residents’ group ‘Treneere Team Spirit’ was also formed in 2006. Members of the group helped analyse the results and clarify the priorities of both neighbourhood surveys.

Everyone working together as a team is turning Treneere into a rejuvenated community – Treneere a Cornish success story.
