What are the risks with gas appliances?

Every year about 30 people in the UK die from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by gas appliances and flues that have not been properly installed or maintained.

A much larger number (over 200) suffer from the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Others are killed by fires and explosions resulting from gas leaks. When it is handled correctly and respectfully, natural gas is a safe, efficient and economical fuel. However, if treated in a careless or indifferent manner, it can become dangerous, wasteful and expensive.
