Treneere, a Cornish success story

Two resident surveys reveal remarkable differences for Treneere

Community day on the Princess May recreation groundIn just two years, residents working together have turned Treneere into one of the strongest communities in Penzance, West Cornwall.

The estate is occupied by 1,500 residents across 600 households, and two thirds of the housing is owned and manged by PHA. The estate is located in an area which has seen a significant economic down turn. This is caused by lack of employment and a high dependency on tourism

Resident surveys have been carried out on the estate in 2006 and 2008. The real differences in the responses demonstrate just how much Treneere has changed in these last two years.

In 2006 the results revealed how 5% of residents were satisfied with the delivery of public services and 3% felt they could influence decision-making.

The 2008 survey has now revealed a dramatic change with 85% of residents being satisfied with the estate as a place to live and 63% feeling they can influence decision-making.
