Getting to know you

Combining business and fun

residents logoA “getting to know you” day for DCHA, PHA and Tor Homes residents is shortly taking place at Tavistock College.

Combining business with fun activities the idea is to get residents to participate in the serious side of the event before going off to enjoy themselves. The day starts with a question and answer session between the residents and the three chief executives in the group. Residents will decide what questions they would like answers to and get the chance to put the chief executives on the spot. This is the first opportunity for residents of the enlarged group to meet informally. It is also expected that residents from Holland and Brittany will also attend the day to share their experiences.

Free transport is being organised for all residents along with free childcare and entertainment for youngsters travelling with their parents.

There are 17 workshops during the day for residents to choose from including arts and crafts; cooking on a budget; recycling waste; genealogy (family tree); fundraising; making greetings cards; IT skills, making mosaics and jewellery; stress busting; energy efficiency; prize bingo and forming a rock band.

PHA board member Norman Emberson and Jim Harris (DCHA) jointly chair the organising committee planning the event. “I am very excited about it” said Mr Emberson. “This will be the first opportunity since the new group was formed to bring together customers in such a large number from the three organisations. It is an occasion for greater involvement by residents as we strive for excellence.”
