Annual report 2008

Now available to download

PHA annual report 2008Looking back at the last year allows us the opportunity to thank residents, partners, staff and board members who have helped contribute to our success.

Residents play a full part in helping us design our services and monitor our performance and we value their input, however it is made.

Many residents contribute generously with their time as members of the board, the Peninsula Tenants Committee, Resident Audit team or the many panels and working groups that help PHA with its work. Others work within their own local residents association that covers their scheme or neighbourhood. Their common purpose is to improve the quality of life in their area by working with PHA and others who can help.

Our work with residents and with our various partners in local councils, the police and other emergency services, and with voluntary and community groups as well as businesses, helps us deliver our services more effectively. This is also supported by our joint working with Tor Homes and Devon & Cornwall Housing Association (DCHA) as part of sharing experience and expertise in our group structure.

One of our key successes is in providing more affordable homes in Cornwall and in particular in the Penwith district.

We have around 120 staff working in a large number of locations across Cornwall delivering services; managing over 6,000 homes, directly supporting around 700 of our more vulnerable residents in their own homes, administering our multi-million pound decent homes programme and progressing the adaptation of properties for residents with disabilities. This is in addition to overseeing routine maintenance and other service contracts and providing the back-office support that is needed for the homes we manage.

All of this is overseen by the board members of PHA who give their time on a voluntary basis because of their commitment to housing in Cornwall.

We hope by reading this annual report you gain a clear understanding of the ever-increasing role PHA is playing across Cornwall and how none of this would be possible without the support we receive.
