When Sir Bob Kerslake visited DCHA sites in Plymouth this month, we took the oppoprtunity to make a presentation on our extensive community development work in and around social housing neighbourhoods in Cornwall working with Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C).
The presentation focused particularly upon the Treneere estate in Penzance, West Cornwall. In just two years this has turned around to become one of the strongest communities in Penzance, PHA own and manage two thirds of its housing.
‘Residents from Cornwall had a tremendous opportunity to speak to Sir Bob face-to-face to explain the good work that is going on in Cornish communities through our work with our partners, CN4C and the resident led Treneere Together Partnership,’ said Andy Moore, PHA Chief Executive.
‘They were able to emphasise how creating a community is much more than just bricks and mortar but also supporting the people who live in the homes to improve their quality of life,’ he said.
Residents from Treneere spoke to Sir Bob after the presentation from Carol Bosworth, PHA/DCHT resident board member and Debbie Sims, Resident Involvement Officer for Treneere.
Treneere was shortlisted for the National Housing Federation South West ‘What we are proud of’ award. Click here for more infomation on the regeneration of Treneere.
