GOFA

Good Old Furniture Available

gofa vanThese initials stand for a very successful charity project in West Cornwall helping well over a thousand needy families and homes.

Now its large van has a new logo and the work continues to expand. The letters stand for ‘Good Old Furniture Available’ and the slogan lives up to its claim and name.

Those in need are helped with the delivery of good furniture given by others.

PHA are helping with the Logo design. GOFA depends entirely on donations of good quality furniture and white goods from the public and helps to make homes. Sponsors including PHA are recognised on the side of the van.

Carol Bosworth, Chair of the Penwith Tenants Committee and a PHA Board member was pleased we could help. She says: “GOFA is a local charity assisting people who need help, many of whom are our tenants. We are pleased to continue our support for their grand work”.

George Ostins began the voluntary venture and says: “PHA were the first external organisation to provide us with a garage. We became a registered charity, more people came on board and Penwith District Council gave us premises behind the Methodist chapel.

Last year we had almost 400 deliveries. When I retired I was doing 200 in my spare time and we had to make changes because it was expanding. The quality of the goods has increased and people really appreciate it.”
