Penwith Housing Association takes a serious approach when tackling issues of nuisance and anti-social behaviour (ASB). After working alongside tenants to update ASB policies and procedures, they are now seeing a tremendous improvement in ASB customer satisfaction.
The figures, which compare ASB Customer Satisfaction statistics in the West of Cornwall from April 2010 to March 2011, reveal that not only has satisfaction improved, it is also better than the national targets in 12 out of 14 areas.
Andy Moore, Chief Executive of PHA commented, ' We take great pride in these much improved figures which provide us with confirmation about the value of our ASB policy review and also provides an indication of the hard work undertaken by housing officers in working towards the resolution of individual cases. We recognise that there is still work to be done in this area and will continue to develop our services and make a positive difference to peoples' lives.'
PHA signed up to the government’s ‘Respect Standard for Housing Management’ and is now able to respond more efficiently to ASB reports. They have recruited two Cornwall based neighbourhood relations officers; developed acceptable behaviour contracts and work in partnership with outside partners including the police and Cornwall Council.
PHA residents are able to report incidents of ASB in a variety of methods, including an out of office hours Respect Line’ on 01392 814535.
