Moving forward
PHA announces it is moving forward with site investigations at Meadow Flats, St Ives.
Penwith Housing Association has confirmed that it is moving forward with its plans for redevelopment of part of the Meadow Flats adjacent to the Tate St Ives.
The Association has been in discussion with Tate St Ives; Cornwall Council and residents’ representatives to finalise the design and has announced that it will be undertaking ground investigations over the next four weeks with a view to finalising preliminary design proposals and submitting a detailed planning application. The investigations will involve drilling to ascertain the position of Blue Elvan rock which is known to exist in the area.
Penwith Housing Association has made good progress in rehousing existing residents on either a temporary or permanent basis.
Agreement has been reached in principle with Cornwall Council and Tate St Ives, supported by St Ives Town Council and the majority of resident, for a redevelopment of the flats on the western side of the Tate to provide 26 one and two bedroom sheltered flats complete with lifts and residents lounge built to high environmental standards. The Association is in the process of finalising the financial package to allow the scheme to progress.
