The top plaudit, presented at a special award ceremony and dinner at Gibson Hall, London which commended the Mears, Falmouth/Penwith branch was a particular coup for the team.

A national initiative created by the construction industry to improve its image. The areas monitored fall into three categories, the environment, the workforce and the general public. The best performing sites are recognised with Annual National Awards.

“We have been working hard to achieve recognition from the Considerate Constructors Scheme for some time,” explains David Price, Branch Manager at Falmouth. “This is a really fantastic achievement and not only praises the work of the Falmouth/Penwith team but Mears’ policies regarding customer care and environment.”

The Mears and PHA relationship spans a number of years. As part of that agreement, PHA requests all Decent Homes contracts are registered on the scheme and therefore monitored against a Code of Considerate Practice. This is designed by the scheme to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements.

The site for which Mears won the award is Marazion Neighbourhood in Marazion, near Penzance. Consisting of 96 houses, Mears has been responsible for replacing kitchens and bathrooms.
