In the ‘What we are proud of’ category the Treneere Together Partnership was runner-up in the S.W. Regional heat of the national Neighbourhood Awards.
It called its presentation entry ‘Treneere – a Cornish Success’.“We are very proud and pleased at what the residents have achieved with the support of the Penwith Housing Association (PHA), the police and other partners”commented Andy Moore, the PHA Chief Executive.“This is the third year of the Partnership and it is the enthusiasm of the residents that has led to this regional recognition of their efforts”.The Certificate, as runner-up, signed by David Orr Chief Executive of the National Housing Federation was accepted by Caroline White, PHA Board member.
David Sullivan, the new Neighbourhood manager of the Treneere Partnership, in succession to Paul Forsythe, remarked “It is great to see a strong residents association”.It is a return to his home county for David, who was born in Truro and studied at Cardiff University before starting his career in London with the economic and regeneration arm of the Hyde Housing Association.His is a key role in Treneere’s efforts.“We are certainly busy and there is a good ‘buzz’ here and around Penzance.At the moment we are looking at the priorities that include activities for teenagers, working to provide employment and training as well as protecting the environment”.
There will be an official opening and ‘Open Day’ on 16th August 2008 at the new community building, the Col-Coombe Centre, at Treneere which the residents association is helping to run.
