Residents Event 2009

Guests from France and Holland join tenants of PHA, DCHA and Tor Homes for a residents event.

Residents Event 2009Continental guests joined Cornish tenants at their ‘Residents Event 2009’.

Twelve came from France and Holland for the special day at Truro College, organised by the Penwith Housing Association (PHA).

“It was all a fantastic success. We had a great day and learned many things of value” said Norman Emberson of Hayle, a Board member.

“The staff were well-organised, keen and helpful and we have had quite a lot of useful feedback from the tenants. It proved, once again, we can all work well together”. Some 130 residents enjoyed the full-day programme with the children catered for with a crèche and a ‘circus skills’ workshop.

The compere was Veronica Foden. A session on combating anti-social behaviour was led by Patrick Devereaux and one on benefits advice by Kate Gregory, both of PHA. The Rotary Club ‘Shelterbox’ international scheme display provided a feature for the homelessness theme, presented by Rotarian, Adrian Sumner.

The tenants came from Tor Homes, Devon and Cornwall Housing Association and PHA, with workshops on computers, family history and ‘cooking on a shoestring’ proving especially popular.

“There was something of interest for everyone and plenty of happy and healthy entertainment” added Mr Emberson. “And several residents showed interest in joining the tenants committees”.
