Formal Opening for new development

A new development of homes in Carbis Bay is to be formally opened.

A mass balloon ‘launch’ by schoolchildren will greet the official opening of the new £3.5 million 20-home development at Carbis Bay, near St Ives.

The Cornish name ‘Teyla Tor’ (family land) suggested by pupils of St Uny C of E school has been backed by the town council. Opening day is Friday 11th September 2009 for the project at Polmennor Drive of 12 houses, two flats and a bungalow for rent, together with five houses for affordable ‘home buy’.

The event will be lead by Gail Hunt, Chair of Penwith Housing Association (PHA) with Chief Executive, Andy Moore, and is the result of a partnership between Devon and Cornwall Housing Association; Penwith Housing Association; the Housing Corporation and former Penwith council.

The building work has been by ROK of Truro. “All the tenants have now moved in” remarked Mr Moore, “and we have benefited from the strong support of St Ives Town Council and our good relationship with the local school. The official opening also marks the start of the new school year and it is great to see the children involved in celebrating the completion of these much-needed local homes”.
