Anglo-French Friendship
An Anglo-French friendship is thriving in the Westcountry.
Homes are the link and soon a return group from Brittany will be in Cornwall to join a series of workshops in Truro.
Carol Bosworth of Trewellard, near St Just, a member of the new Peninsula Tenants Committee, was in a group from the combined Penwith Housing Association; Devon and Cornwall Housing Association and Tor Homes, that recently visited Rennes. “It was my first trip to France and was a very rewarding experience” she said. “It was so well worth while. They were lovely people. Our group of eight went by overnight ferry to Roscoff as guests of Aiguillon Construction, a group similar to ours in social housing. The Breton hosts have ‘link tenants’ who give a welcome to new residents, information on their local area and organise social activities”.
The Cornwall and Devon guests who attended the conference were also given a tour of housing schemes in Rennes and, after completing the visit with a dinner and entertainment together, returned home the next day.
“We are all looking forward to welcoming them to our residents event in Cornwall in May.” Carol added.
