MP views decent homes workAndrew George MP cast a discerning eye over PHA's recent homes work in Alverton on 1st September 2008. He was accompanied by PHA Chief Executive, Andy Moore and Project Manager, Dave Webb.

The estate was opened by the then Princess Royal in the early 1950’s. Mr George was shown around the home of Mrs Helena Cotton, 70, who has lived at her Cardinnis Road home for 45 years. Mrs Cotton, who has had a new kitchen and bathroom installed, commented “it is looking lovely and I am very pleased. They were exactly a month doing the work and I had the fridge-freezer, washing machine and cooker in the front room with me for company! It was well worth all the upset and it is of very good quality”.

The MP also called in on Mrs Mary Bishop, 83, who is an invalid cared for by her daughter, Mrs Val Squires.A new kitchen has been installed – with a new bathroom to come.“It is absolutely brilliant” said Mrs Squires, “and makes such a difference with the improved layout, new points and a non-slip floor which helps my mother who uses a walking frame”. They were also pleased to have a choice of colours and with the quality of the finish of the work.
