Discretionary Gardening Scheme - Eligibility Criteria
We have recently reviewed our Discretionary Gardening Scheme which offers assistance to those vulnerable tenants who are unable to maintain their grassed areas. The working group which include members of Peninsula Tenants’ Committee and Sheltered Housing Older Persons Forum decided to review the criteria for access onto the list. The criteria agreed upon is:-
Financial vulnerability – dependent on what type of benefits you receive.
Physical vulnerability – do you have a medical problem which prevents you from carrying out the work.
No alternative means – have no members of the household or family members living within the locality who could reasonably carry out the gardening responsibilities.
Tenancy compliance - not subject to any current legal action for any breaches of tenancy.
Should you wish to apply to go onto this scheme, please complete the application form below and return it to PHA. Please note that we can only assist a small number of residents and you may need to go onto a waiting list.
However, we are currently negotiating with contractors on the possibility of a reduced fee for grass cutting. We will signpost any interested parties to those contractors who have agreed to this. Please note the contract will be between you and the contractor and PHA will have no involvement.
There are also garden tool hire schemes which operate within the neighbourhoods of Treneere, Gwavas and Roscadghill. For further details please contact your Resident Association to take up this scheme.
