Penwith Tenants Committee has the following sub-groups to carry out its work. Each sub-group is chaired by a different member from the committee. Each of the sub-groups is given responsibility to consider how services are delivered and how they can be improved.
Technical Partnerships Group
- This group is able to meet regularly with Partnering contractors and discusses how things are happening on the ground.
- The group developed the contractors pledge card, which is a two-way agreement between contractor and tenant. This helps to ensure that when work needs to be done, everyone knows what is expected of them.
- This group is regularly updated with the progress and development of the Decent Homes Programme. It has made several suggestions to the Property Services Team, which have become part of good practice, having particular input into the recent Frequently Asked Questions leaflet.
Constitution and Management Sub-Group
- Recently the Constitution and Management group has taken responsibility for overseeing the PTC budget.
- This group has developed a travel protocol and investigated a range of cheaper venues for meetings to take place.
- The PTC Constitution is a working document and is reviewed periodically. The group is keen to widen the scope for involvement and increase opportunities for members to develop their skills and interests.
Customer Services Sub-Group
- This is a new sub-group and was formed as a direct response to last year’s Resident Involvement Statement.
- Although in its early days the group are tackling improvements to grounds maintenance and is about to pilot a Residents’ Suggestion scheme, which was suggested by a PTC member.
- It is also there to monitor performance and liaises with the Customer Services Team on a range of other issues.
Tenants’ Conference
- Since the successful residents event at Tavistock in May the group are keen to plan for the next occasion. Working with colleagues across the DCH Group, this team of active residents has met the challenge and made new connections
Residents’ Liaison Group
- Perhaps the oldest established group, this was set up for residents’ associations to come together and share good practice and be of mutual support.
- The quarterly meetings provide opportunities to ask questions of PHA staff about neighbourhood matters, repairs and maintenance and issues of wider concern.
- Guests are also invited from the wider stakeholder groups and other agencies, to give presentations and to answer questions that are of direct interest or concern to the groups and their neighbourhoods.
