Neighbourhood Inspections
We held a successful consultation event in March to inform a draft policy and procedure for improving the way we carry out Neighbourhood Inspections/Walkabouts.
At the event we asked the following questions:
- How do you want to be involved?
- How often should they take place?
- How do you want us to communicate with you?
We listened to your views and heard the following as a majority of what you want:
- To see your Neighbourhood Housing Officer around the area where you live and to involve other agencies if thought helpful or needed
- To improve the appearance of communal areas, where necessary
- To invite all residents to be involved
- For the regularity of these joint walkabouts not only to depend on the number of properties on an estate/neighbourhood but also to reflect:
- Recorded anti-social behaviour incidents
- Existing amenities in the area
- Other such reasons
Whilst there is more work required surrounding this, we propose to improve our services.
Our commitments:
- A calendar of planned walk-abouts will be available on the website from April 2011. It will also be available in our reception areas, notice-boards and can be sent out to you on request.
The policy is also available on the website Notify residents within 10 working days of the inspection/walk-about taking place Feedback to those who attended/involved Follow up our findings When the inspections/walkabouts are in place, we will review the process by way of satisfactions surveys to ensure the outcomes are beneficial to all.
We hope you will join us in our work to bring the best out of your Neighbourhood and Community.
