Housing options and advice for young people

Whilst the majority of the homes that PHA manages are for families or older people, we do have flats which are suitable for young people. These are let to nominees of the local authorities with whom we work in Cornwall. We also aim to help young people who are looking at their housing options by pointing them in the direction of agencies with whom we work in partnership. They often provide specialist housing advice for young people and in some cases can directly assist with housing itself.

A recommended first step for a young person considering their housing options would be to contact Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C) for a 'Cornwall Hopes' pack. This Homelessness Education pack has been produced by CN4C with support from Shelter the national homelessness charity who have a local office in Redruth.

Another useful link for young people seeking advice in Cornwall is the YMCA who provide housing advice sessions. PHA works directly in partnership with the YMCA Cornwall, who manage a young person supported housing scheme on our behalf and also oversee a number of move on flats for young people who need less support.
